Families living with a disabled person receive little or no support from local authorities. HAO Romania provide a forum where parents/carers share experiences, advice, knowledge and practical support to each other. A series of workshops and discussions provide access to the expertise necessary to equip the group with the skills and information needed to empower them to lobby Government agencies for better services.
This summer the group successfully raised enough money to fund a holiday for themselves their disabled children and three other young disabled people living in Government homes. This was the first time they had worked together to achieve a goal - they are planning to build on this success by organising daytime activities for their children.
